The busiest time for a fitness club is just after Christmas but many people stop attending within a few months so if you join a club you want to make sure they will motivate you enough to keep coming back. Finding the right one will be much simpler if you know what it is you want to get out of it. While that is important, there are some other factors to consider before you make your final decision. Not to be dismissed as a minor pint should be where the club is located, if it is not close to your place of work or home you will quickly find reasons not to go.
A good instructor can make or break a club because he is the motivator and that is the most important aspect for users. Always inform your physical trainer if you require any special attention or have any limitations they need to know about in advance. You can ask the staff what services they offer, this will give you the chance to find out how helpful, friendly and professional they are. Many fitness clubs these days have their own specialists to help with physiotherapy or nutrition.
Flexibility of opening hours is important as the longer it is open during the day, the less chance there is of it becoming too crowded. If you have specific classes in mind, make sure they have them before you join the fitness club; preferably more than one per week. It may seem like a minor point but if the club doesn’t have sufficient training equipment to go around, queues are likely to form and that is when people start to leave. One thing to look for is the age of the equipment; the older it is the more likely it is to break down which doesn’t look good on the club.
You may be invited to one of the clubs events to enable you to meet current member, this is well wroth the effort on your part as you may make a few friends before you actually join. Eventually, whether you join or not will be down to the cost of membership but don’t forget to see if they have and other charges that are not immediately apparent.
Visit more than one fitness club; make up a list, preferably at least three to take a look at, perhaps at different price levels as it will be worth your while to see what’s available. Take your time, there is no hurry and be wary of clubs that continue to contact you about membership as there is a fine line between a courteous approach and pestering.
