Here’s a couple:
Black Bean Burgers (from Veganomicon)
1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup vital wheat gluten
1/2 cup plain whole wheat crumbs
1 teaspoon chile powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon tomato paste (or ketchup)
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 small onion chopped
Mash the beans with a fork in a mixing bowl. Add gluten, bread crumbs, chile powder, cumin, water, tomato paste, garlic, and onion. Mix well.
The recipe calls for frying the patties. I use a George Foreman type grill.
Walnut Hemp Burger (from The Thrive Diet)
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup hemp seeds
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp oil (recipe calls for coconut or hemp oil – I use olive oil. Use regular olive oil not EVOO if you plan on heating.)
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp oregano
Process until your desired consistency in a food processor. These are great raw or on the GF Grill. The recipe says it makes two patties. It’s more like five for me.
I like my burgers wrapped in green leaf lettuce instead of in a bun, wrapping any toppings that I might want right in with the burger.
